If you take two apples from a bowl of eleven apples, how many apples will you have?

Paul took 94 and 1/2 dozen pennies to the bank. The bank assistant only gave him a £ (pound) for the whole lot. Why was that? If it takes a hen and a half a day and half to lay an egg and a half, how long will it take half a dozen hens to deliver a dozen?
