Devraj of Glen Waverly Primay School sent a very clear explanation of how to work out the answer to the first question:

If there are 180 days in a school year and if you multiply it by 2 (hours) then you get 360, then divide it by 24 (hours in a day) and that will give you 15.

So Harry has 15 days of homework to do!

Many of you correctly told us that Harry spends 17 hours each schoolday eating, sleeping or at school, but Mollie, aged 12, spotted:

He spends 180 days at school, but he snacks and sleeps on each of the 365 days of the year. So he spends 7 x 180 = 1260 hours at school, 8 x 365 = 2920 hours asleep and 2 x 365 = 730 hours snacking. So that makes 4910 hours, then you divide by 24 and get 204.583... days. But you have to round up, so he spends 205 days snacking, sleeping or at school.

There are 52 weeks in a year so he spends 2 x 52 = 104 days on his weekends, and there are 5 weekdays so he spends 5 x 11 = 55 days on holiday. This makes 364 days.

So poor Harry has only one day in which to do all fifteen days of homework. Fortunately for Harry - or not! - Yanqing of Lipson Community College found the flaw in his calculations:

Harry eats and sleeps on weekends and holidays as well, so he has counted extra for his holidays and weekends.
