February UpdateWe have reached February and with the summer as the target for the site relaunch things are warming up. The technical staff are continuing to work hard and we have a very good idea of the structure and format of the site (if not the detail of what exactly it will look like). The database that will contain all the data about the archive is nearing completion and the work in translating the basic information we have about each problem, game and article is underway. The schedule is to launch a pilot site in the early summer with the full launch in September. We hope that many more of you will register so that we can get basic feedback on the way the site is used without asking you to complete questionnaires. Membership will continue to be free and will give you access to the archive material. In the meantime we will continue to publish problems and solutions. Although I am afraid that the new site will be a little more restrictive about how you can send solutions in – with no faxed or posted entries – because of the time involved at our end in making these accessible. Best case might be that we acknowledge them but don’t publish them. Sorry! |

January UpdateHappy New Year!We are kicking off the new year with a questionnaire to see what YOU want from the NRICH site. Please take 3-4 minutes to complete the questionnaire and help us create the site the way you want it. You can fill out the questionnaire here The Prime site is now benefiting from a new section called Cupboard Love which we hope will encourage teachers everywhere to dig out all that "mathematical" apparatus lying forgotten in classrooms... |

December UpdateHappy Christmas! So what have we been up to? We've been working in three main areas this month. Firstly, we are trying to find ways of improving the content of the thesaurus. Several NRICH members have volunteered to help with this, and we are trialling a system which will support them. Secondly, we have also been debating ways in which we can raise funds for the project without compromising our principles of free access to the magazine.
Thirdly, we are preparing material for a new section on the Prime site
called “Cupboard Love” which will start in January.

November UpdateDevelopment work on models for the new site is well under way and design work we will be using to “join” mathematics ideas together into teaching and learning frameworks is making good progress. We have also put a great deal of effort into converting all our resources into a format that will make them more easily retrievable and working on the framework for search mechanisms. Technical enhancements have also been carried out to make downloads from
the site quicker.

October UpdateYou will notice several changes to our site this month including the launch of an exciting new section "Excel at Maths"We are publishing the majority of our problems as usual but while we work on future improvements, all articles, games and the Bernard's Bag investigation will link back to previous issues. However, all past material is still accessible through the archive. We trust that you will continue to enjoy our site during this transitionary period. The NRICH Team . |
